Four-day week variant

Hold core blocks Mon–Thu and use Friday for field trips, co-op, library, or extended project time. Add 15 min to Math and ELA Mon–Thu to keep weekly totals on target.

Loop schedule for science

Science meets Mon / Wed / Fri at 45 min. On Tue / Thu, swap that block for an extended social-studies project or world-language deep-dive — both are easy to loop without losing yearly minutes.

Yearly tally

~1035 instructional hours / year

345 min × 5 days × 36 weeks of instruction. Comfortably exceeds NYS's 990-hour requirement for grades 4–6, and meets or exceeds requirements in TX, FL, CA, and VA. See State Adaptations for details.
